The Taft Institute provides an annual Seminar for Teachers, an online event that features presentations and reviews of topical issues and elections, by Professor Emeritus Michael Krasner and Senior Teaching Associate Don McLean, with the opportunity to earn stipends.  Teachers who attend are then invited to develop their own Lesson Plan and submit for dissemenation to other teachers.

LESSON PLANS DEVELOPED BY TEACHERS

The lesson plans here were developed for the 2025 New York City elections, but they can easily be adapted to the 2026 midterms.  The themes, such as learning to analyze an advertisement's appeal or assessing a smear campaign, apply to any election at any time.  Simply substitute this year’s candidates or campaign materials, and the lesson will work just as well as it did in 2026.  If you have questions, please feel free to contact Professor Michael Krasner, makrasner@gmail.com.
